Public Administration in Kansas
Kansas is the 15th largest state in the United States, located in the heart of the Midwest. Kansas is North of Oklahoma and South of Nebraska, sharing a border on the West with Colorado and one of the East with Missouri. It derives its name from the Kansas tribe of Native Americans and is the 34th state in the United States, having joined the Union in 1861.
Topeka is the capital of Kansas, while the largest city is Wichita. That is, in part, because Kansas City is not entirely located in Kansas. Part of Kansas City is across the Missouri and Kansas rivers in Missouri. Still, the portion of the metropolitan area located in Kansas is the largest metro area in the state.
Schools in Kansas that Offer a Master of Public Administration
There are three universities in Kansas that offer a Master of Public Administration, and all of them are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration. Kansas State University, the University of Kansas and Wichita State University all have accredited Master of Public Administration programs. That gives people living in Kansas strong options if they wish to pursue a career in public administration.
Kansas State University is a public school with nearly 25,000 students in Manhattan, Kansas. Almost 4,000 of Kansas State University’s students are postgraduates, pursuing one of the university’s nearly 100 masters programs or almost 50 doctoral programs. K State, as it’s known, was established in 1863. Its athletic teams are nicknamed the Wildcats.
The University of Kansas, a rival of Kansas State, has nearly 30,000 students, more than 8,000 of which are postgraduates. It’s located in Lawrence, Kansas, and also has satellite campuses in several other Kansas cities. The University of Kansas has been around since 1865 and is a public space grant university. Its athletic teams are known as the Jayhawks, and the men’s basketball team is among the best in the country more often than not.
Wichita State University is a public college with almost 15,000 students, including approximately 3,000 postgraduates. It’s located in Wichita, and was established in 1895. The Graduate School at Wichita State offers 44 different masters degrees in more than 100 areas of study, giving postgraduate students a lot of options on how to continue their education.
